Word's can't even describe how cute...

As you all may know, The Vine is crazy about choosing a signature container during the Christmas season. We try to target the 3 A's: adorable, affordable AND ADORABLE!!! Check out what we chose for this year. Ceramic vases made to look like mercury glass with a decorative pine cone attached (perfect size for our wreath and tree shaped mini topiaries). This is a perfect universal container, just snap the ribbon off once the New Year comes!!!! Let us know what you think.

Adorable Upside Down Planters

My dear friend, Christa Conn, sent me this picture last night and I could not wait to share it with everyone! I don't find this creation very surprising, being that Christa never ceases to amaze me. Not only is she creative, but one of the kindest people I know!
If you think this is cool you should check out her organic bath and body line at:http://www.bufforganics.com/

Local Produce Farmers Market on SSI TODAY!!!

Fresh, Georgia grown,
local produce!
(Possibly) the last market for winter harvest...depending on the weather.
Sun

This Wednesday from 4:30-7pm.
In front of Island Natural Market on the corner of Frederica and Demere Road
Red heart
collards
salad greens
broccoli florets
turnips
carrots
mustards
bread
honey and more

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Great news for our community! We have access to LOCAL produce….directly from local family owned farms. This “Mobile Farmers Market” is from McIntosh SEED.
WHY BUY LOCAL? Locally grown food not only tastes better, but fresh food retains its nutrients, unlike produce that has traveled a long distance. Local produce is a great way to build a stronger coastal community by supporting local family owned farms. Buying local food supports a clean environment and benefits wildlife because these small farms are places where the resources of fertile soil and clean water are valued. (Amen!) Buying local is a way to keep money within our coastal community, and also helps local farms teach future generation how to grow food.
What is McIntosh SEED? http://www.mcintoshseed.org McIntosh SEED is a local, non-profit organization working to support small family farmers GA. They also run a youth employment and skills training program, where some of this great fresh food is grow, a food pantry serving 150 families in McIntosh County, youth and adult empowerment and job skills development trainings as well as gardening workshops, and more. Their mission statement is: “McIntosh SEED works to strengthen low-wealth families and improve neglected rural communities through asset-based economic development, education reform, empowerment, and environmental preservation.”
Look who made their air plant bloom...
we just discovered today, on MY (beth's) bday, that one of our air plant's bloomed! Look how beautiful the blooms are!!! We have several air plants in at The Vine, stop in and pick out the perfect air plant for your garden!
Coolest Plant EVER...
Okay all you Kalanchoe lovers...we have the coolest new plant in...check it out:
http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week074.shtml
Kalanchoe beharensis is one of the more interesting Kalanchoes that I have grown. The leaves are about 8 inches long by 4 inches wide, triangular, and are thickly covered with dense brown, felt-like hairs. It is a native to Madagascar.
Blooming Time: Our specimen has never bloomed in the 8 years we have been growing it.
Culture: Kalanchoe beharensis need full sun to part shade with intermediate to warm temperatures. Water sparingly at all times. The use of fertilizer is discouraged. They thrive in nutrient poor soils (equal amounts of loam and sand with gravel added for drainage). The stems are usually unbranched and may reach a height of 10 feet or more.
Propagation: Kalanchoe beharensis is propagated by the removal of plants around the base of the main plant and by leaf cuttings.
Kalanchoe beharensis "Maltese Cross" was featured as Plant of the Week April 14-20, 2000.
vintage photos in antique bottles = LOVE
I am obsessed with blog searching (and stalking) while I have my morning coffee (thank you cara wommack) and while little C has his morning bottle... stumbled across this on www.apartmenttherapy.com ... all together now, say... "DUH!!! What a great idea!!!" This will happen in my house... how about yours????
i mean, for real?? how unbelievably amazing is THIS?!? i love how it mixes so many different elements -- "formal" topiaries (which, by the way, i totally DO NOT agree with.... topiaries get a bad rap being called formal... they are COOL and funky), palms, italian cypress trees, funky angles.... i love it! its like the designer couldn't really decide which look to go with -- which turned out to be the best look of all! L.O.V.E it.
The Perfect Gift!!!
Simple, but makes the perfect gift!!! This orchid wrapped in birch bark and finished off with a little moss and willow makes the simplicity of an orchid unforgettable!
How fabulously simple and wonderful is THIS??? I'm pretty much all about this look in a window above a kitchen sink, on a front porch... I personally, have them hanging in my master bath above my claw foot tub. Its artsy and delicate and will be available at The Vine very soon.... Lucky YOU, huh???
A work in process
Our Vines Are Growing....
As you all may know our main goal here at The Vine is to empower creativity. We want every single soul that steps in our store to feel this empowerment and embrace it! All in all we thought it would be more than brilliant to build a paper mache tree inside our store as a plant display! It is still a work in progress, but take a look at what we have so far...
to be continued....
